Lionel Lucchesi has been named one of the 2014 Top Small Business Lawyers in St. Louis Small Business Monthly. Among over 250 nominees, only twelve attorneys were selected for this distinction.
In the article, Mr. Lucchesi was asked about the biggest challenges he faces when helping business owners. He indicated business owners are challenged with finding and keeping good employees. He also indicated business owners are challenged by the intrusion of government regulations associated with operating their business.
When asked what the number one piece of advice he would give to business owners, Mr. Lucchesi said he thought the “persistence” quote by Calvin Coolidge was relevant: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
Mr. Lucchesi went onto advise the biggest mistake he has seen business owners make was they had insufficient capital or did not properly allocate their available capital. He suggested business owners measure their expenses and don’t spend where they don’t have to, but do so for valid business reasons. He also suggested business owners find good help because they can’t do it all by themselves.”
Mr. Lucchesi’s areas of practice include patents, trademarks, copyrights, intellectual property licensing, litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He served as a past President and Member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and past Chairman of the Patent and Trademark Committee of The Missouri Bar.
